Trouble Agents
By Jeffrey M. Anderson It's just what you'd expect from a remake of an old TV comedy; it's too big and too long with too many explosions, too many twittering high-tech gizmos and too many chases. But it has at least five undeniable laughs and so Get Smart is an amiable time-waster. Steve Carell stars as the deadpan Maxwell Smart -- who must make the leap from desk jockey to field agent -- and Anne Hathaway is the pretty Agent 99. Dwayne Johnson, David Koechner and Terry Crews earn their share of laughs as well, and James Caan gets in one last Bush-bash with his portrayal of an idiot president who says "nu-CEW-lar." A few other stars make cameos. Peter Segal directs.
