Salma Hayek earned an Oscar nomination for her fierce, passionate portrayal of the famous, iconic Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo, and Alfred Molina matches her as Frida's husband Diego Rivera. Director Julie Taymor creates some memorable images but succumbs all to readily to the standard biopic formula. The Brothers Quay provided animation for one sequence. A Blu-Ray was released in 2012.
