Cold Shoulder

A man and his family are on a ski vacation in the French Alps. While eating at an outdoor restaurant, an avalanche threatens and in a panic, the man grabs his cell phone, runs away, and leaves his family. It turns out to be a false alarm, and no one is hurt, but the man's act has become a point of fact. At first, he tries to shrug it off, but it soon escalates to a betrayal to his wife, and a source of shame for the man. Other couples are, uncomfortably, brought into the mix, as it is discussed and dissected to its breaking point. Director Ruben Ostlund gives the movie a chilly, deadpan look, that, depending on your own mood, can be either so-awful-it's-funny, or so-funny-it's-awful.
