Slam Punk
By Jeffrey M. Anderson One of the cheapest films of the 80s, this fearless rock 'n' roll flick was actually shot on Super 8! In it, an all-girl punk band finds sudden success and succumbs to the perils therein. It's a truly amazing artifact with great music, some of it by Los Angeles punk/pop group Redd Kross. Director Dave Markey also made a 1986 sequel, Lovedolls Superstar, and went on to direct 1991: The Year Punk Broke, featuring Nirvana and Sonic Youth.
