Getting Took
By Jeffrey M. Anderson Made after Bangkok Dangerous (1999) and before The Eye (2002), this unremarkable feature by Oxide Pang tells the story of a friendship between a prostitute, Som (Wanatchada Siwapornchai), and a low-level drug dealer, Bank (Pawalit Mongkolpisit), who dreams of being a gangster. Pang starts things off with a lot of slick, quickly-edited slam-bang stuff before settling into the familiar story. When Bank gets a high-paying job delivering bulk drugs to a rich man, the payoff is enormous, so he begins dreaming of a life with Som. It's the typical "one last big score" plot with predictable results. Not even Pang's flashy style can make up for the lack of interest here. DVD Details: Tartan's "Asia Extreme" DVD comes with film notes, a trailer, a making-of featurette and trailers for other Tartan releases.
