Shortness of Breath
By Jeffrey M. Anderson
An essential, experimental short horror film from Austria, Peter Tscherkassky's Outer Space is a moody, ten-minute piece made from found footage (a 1981 horror film called The Entity starring Barbara Hershey). It opens on a creepy-looking house and shows a woman lurking around inside. The film's soundtrack is deliberately distorted and crackly, and the images are black and shaky, as if it were being projected by a madman. If it doesn't give you a headache, this is a must-see.
