Long 'Weekend'
By Jeffrey M. Anderson If I had to spend the weekend with these whiny, pretentious characters, I'd jump in the lake and never come up. They're the kind of people who discuss architecture, use grape scissors, and kiss each other when the leave the room. Eight snobby people get together to remember a friend (D.B. Sweeny) who died of AIDS the year before. The images are stained blue when characters remember him. Even the talent of Gena Rowlands, the gravity of Deborah Kara Unger, and the lightness of Brooke Shields can't save the awkward, stilted, expository dialogue written by Brian Skeet (who also directs).
