Grouching Tiger
By Jeffrey M. Anderson Here's something surprising, a terrible movie from a great director, Tsui Hark. Zu Warriors is ostensibly a remake of his 1983 film Zu: Warriors from the Magic Mountain, but this time it emerges as an overwhelming festival of CG effects, a batch of convoluted, expository dialogue, and wind machines blowing through the characters' hair. Admittedly, I did not finish watching this disaster, but I certainly expected more from Mr. Tsui. DVD Details: Miramax snapped up this 2001 release and did their usual, dubbing it and shortening it by nearly 30 minutes. The DVD provides both versions, though not even the longer version helps much.
