Lonely Guy
By Jeffrey M. Anderson Writer David Mamet teamed up with his old Chicago theater colleague, director Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator) for Edmond, the tale of a fed-up, middle-aged man (William H. Macy), who leaves his wife and goes out for a night on the town. He drinks, tries to pick up hookers and has epiphanies, but also manages to attract and reflect violence. Normally adept at humorous gore, Gordon can't quite get a handle on this odd material, and fails to moderate Macy's performance, but Edmond still comes with its share of fascinating ideas. Julia Stiles, Denise Richards, Mena Suvari and other famous faces appear in small, one-shot roles.
