While working on his successful, Oscar-nominated Elvis (2022), director Baz Luhrman discovered a treasure trove of Elvis footage and audio recordings. He and his crew spent a few years piecing things together and came up with this absorbing, electrifying film, part concert and part personal exploration. (I love the acronym!). Even though Elvis is frequently ridiculed for the flashiness of his Vegas, this film proves that he was a dynamic performer, always capable of enthralling his audiences, but it also proves that there was a human being behind the legend.
