In the Drink
By Jeffrey M. Anderson Buy My Name Is Joe on DVD. Another great achievement from England's Ken Loach (Land and Freedom), My Name Is Joe focuses on a reformed alcoholic (Peter Mullan) who tries to put together a relationship with a health counselor (Louise Goodall). Unfortunately, his best friend Liam is having trouble getting his life together and Joe is in danger of being dragged down with him. Loach's moviemaking is intelligent and skilled, giving us a warts-and-all portrait of a relationship with outstanding performances by Mullan and Goodall.
