Out of Control
By Jeffrey M. Anderson John Cusack stars as a hotshot air traffic controller whose position is threatened when Billy Bob Thornton comes on the job. Cusack is attracted to Thornton's gorgeous wife (Angelina Jolie) and cheats on his own wife (Cate Blanchet) with her. The male competition and camaraderie (which includes the wonderful Vicki Lewis as one of the "guys") is the most interesting thing in the movie. The writers are Glen and Les Charles who worked on the TV shows "Cheers" and "Taxi," and they're great at individual scenes, but some producer told them that they had to have plot points, redemption, and all that garbage. And so the movie takes a dive at the end, but it's wonderful fun before that.
