By Jeffrey M. Anderson After a schoolbus spins off an icy road and into a frozen lake, killing the children aboard, a lawyer (Ian Holm) turns up and tries to initiate a lawsuit. Egoyan directs this wintry tale with surprising, masterful delicacy, without hysteria or overt preaching. Nevertheless, it earned Egoyan an Oscar nomination.
