'Wild Wild' Worst
By Jeffrey M. Anderson Will Smith, Kevin Kline, Kenneth Branagh, Salma Hayek, and M. Emmet Walsh star in this big-budget version of the old TV show. Director Barry Sonnenfeld has done some good work in the past (Get Shorty, Men in Black), but here he's just hanging on. Wild Wild West has six screenwriters and between them they couldn't come up with one good idea or one decent line of dialogue. The movie is just an expensive, slick, shiny lump that sits there and doesn't do anything. The acting is atrocious, the suspense is dull, and the "poo-poo" and "booby" jokes are juvenile and insulting.
