Deserter Hearts
By Jeffrey M. Anderson Joseph Losey's war parable King & Country was another step towards credibility for the expat director, but some critics at the time saw it as too preachy. Nevertheless it holds up well as a clever stab at so-called military intelligence (similar to Kubrick's Paths of Glory) with a superb centerpiece performance by Tom Courtenay as the soldier accused of desertion and on trial for his life.
