Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (1983)
Wafer Thin
By Jeffrey M. Anderson A new two-disc set of Monty Python's the Meaning of Life (1983) has emerged. While on the whole not as funny as Monty Python and the Holy Grail, it does contain the single funniest scene I've ever witnessed. Had this moment gone on any longer, I would have asphyxiated. Terry Jones plays the very overweight Mr. Creosote, who devours nearly everything in a restaurant, then overdoes it with one final thing: a wafer-thin mint. The mint causes him to vomit all over the floor and all over a cleaning woman, then explode. Terry Gilliam's standalone segment, "The Crimson Permanent Assurance" is interesting in that it anticipates some of his awesome visual style in features to come. The disc comes with other stuff, but really, what more do you need?
