Hell Followed Him

A re-watchable, sentimental favorite of mine from actor/director Clint Eastwood, who shot one scene in my hometown. Pale Rider is the flip-side of High Plains Drifter, with Eastwood playing a mysterious preacher (as opposed to the devil) who arrives from nowhere to help a group of prospectors threatened by a large mining company. It's a lightweight, easygoing affair, reminiscent of some of Hawks' or Ford's lesser Westerns. An interesting selection of cult character actors turn up in small roles, including Chris Penn, Richard Kiel and Billy Drago.
