Spirits of the Dead (1968)
Pro-Poe
By Jeffrey M. Anderson At the height of his fame, Federico Fellini contributed a short to the three-part compilation film Spirits of the Dead (1968, Home Vision, $29.95), based on stories by Edgar Allan Poe. But since it's a French production (the other two segments are by Louis Malle and Roger Vadim), Fellini directed his segment in French. Terence Stamp stars as Toby Dammit, a movie star who learns the hard way about the evils of success. It's pretty arty and not particularly scary, but horror fans will probably want to check it out anyway. Jane Fonda, Brigitte Bardot and Alain Delon star in the other segments. Vincent Price apparently narrated an English-dubbed version.
