Double Slumming
By Jeffrey M. Anderson This trashy horror flick is one of my favorite Drew Barrymore movies, taking place during that awkward period in which she was transitioning from child star to "B" movie slut. She plays a disturbed young woman who moves to L.A. and rooms with wannabe screenwriter George Newbern (TV's "Providence"). It turns out that she has an evil twin who's actually a scaly monster -- or something to that effect. Though Doppelganger makes very little sense, the acting is good, Drew has an infamous shower scene, and it's all great fun. Artisan's DVD is panned-and-scanned and has no extras.
