What a Croc
By Jeffrey M. Anderson The original Lake Placid (1999) was surprisingly nasty fun, a well-balanced snack of shocks and laughs. This sequel is a total dud, stupid and cheap on every level. We're asked to believe that a boy, who has been denied a pet in his house, would steal meat to feed a couple of killer crocodiles in the lake every day for years and not get caught until the crocs are big enough to eat a yacht. Meanwhile, a bunch of teens -- none of whom seem like real friends -- gather near the lake so that the girls can take off their clothes. Thankfully the gorgeous Kacey Barnfield (Resident Evil: Afterlife) is among them. Yancy Butler plays a "cougar" that also hunts crocodiles, and Michael Ironside is the sheriff. The crocs may set a record for perhaps the worst CGI yet used in any movie. It debuted on the Syfy channel, and Sony is releasing the "unrated" DVD. Don't bother. Also available on iTunes download.
