Body Movin'

By Jeffrey M. Anderson

This very dated 80s musical might look ridiculous today if not for appearances by an amazing number of old school hip-hop legends. Run-DMC, the Fat Boys, the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Kurtis Blow, Shiela E. and even New Edition all appear as themselves. Most of them have bad hair with little ducktails and lots of product, but Run-DMC still look surprisingly hip in their black leather. They perform classics like "King of Rock" and "Run's House." Blair Underwood makes his film debut, playing a character loosely based on Russell Simmons, the founder of Def-Jam records. Ernest R. Dickerson provided the cinematography, and Michael Schultz (Cooley High, Car Wash, The Last Dragon) directed.
