Adultery Education
By Jeffrey M. Anderson At first glance, this erotic thriller from Adrian Lyne (FatalAttraction, Lolita) looked a lot like his other films, but this timethe material comes from an appropriate source -- Claude Chabrol's LaFemme Infidele -- and the outstanding performances help smooth over theplot devices. Diane Lane has always been great, but her Connie Sumner isthe meatiest role she's had in a while; she deserves her current Oscarnomination. Fox's 2003 DVD has plenty of extras, but none of them are worthwriting home about. (It would have been great to include Chabrol'sversion for comparison.)
