Triangle Trouble
By Jeffrey M. Anderson This horror film has been received with yawns from most fans, but it has a few passionate defenders as well. It's certainly different and not without interest, but its low-key design and sluggish pace will guarantee a very small cult following. Horror vet Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog, Creepshow) stars -- and wears a high-necked white coat throughout -- as Martha, a mother of two. She arrives home just in time to see her daughter blow her own head off. Her son Lucas (Nicholas Brendon, from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") arrives home to help, and they wind up in a bizarre mystery. Everyone keeps acting weird and Martha repeatedly wakes up in the basement, strapped to a chair. It all has something to do with a Nazi occult experiment, which I have to admit requires more thought than most horror films. Director Daryl Goldberg seems to have a yen for slow and spacey line readings, and the actors never really connect on an emotional level. DVD Details: Anchor Bay released the DVD in 2007 with a commentary track by director Goldberg and co-writer Sam Freeman, a trailer and a still gallery.
