A Report from SFIFF
By Jeffrey M. Anderson SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL: I didn't make it through this clumsy martial arts film from Japanese director Shunichi Nagasaki. It's a fairly routine story about three students after the death of their master. They compete for the honor of holding the title belt as well as dealing with intruding military influences. The fight scenes are slow and blocky, with awkward cutting that actually kills the momentum rather than enhancing it.
