Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)
Humuhumunu- kunukuapua'a
By Jeffrey M. Anderson
Jason Segel wrote the screenplay for Forgetting Sarah Marshall and stars as Peter Bretter, a composer working on an all-puppet rock-opera based on Dracula. His longtime girlfriend, Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell), an actress on the TV show "Crime Scene: Scene of the Crime," announces that she's breaking up with him. Distraught, Peter goes to Hawaii, where he meets the cute concierge Rachel (Mila Kunis). Unfortunately, Sarah is also there, with her new boyfriend, rock star Aldous Snow (Russell Brand), of the group Infant Sorrow.
Happily, rather than the usual batch of lies and awkward drawing-room humor, Forgetting Sarah Marshall gets its strength from actual confrontations and conversations. Even the supposed "bad" characters are treated as actual people. Segel and director Nicholas Stoller populate the edges of the movie with an incredible array of comic support, including Paul Rudd, Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, Jason Bateman, and Jack McBrayer. Kristen Wiig appears in the "uncut" version. Judd Apatow was a producer.
Aldous Snow returned in Get Him to the Greek.
