Red Letter Days

By Jeffrey M. Anderson

This unexpectedly smart, snappy, and forward-thinking comedy has Emma Stone as Olive, a high school girl who lies about having sex and finds her world turned upside-down as rumors spread throughout school. But she embraces her newfound status as a "slut" and brands herself with a red letter "A." It was inspired Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter, and is, indeed, perhaps better than most official movie adaptations of that book. Stone is one good reason this works, as well as an excellent supporting cast.
