'Road' Bumps
By Jeffrey M. Anderson Arlington Road is a disturbing thriller about the nature of safety. But, despite a great twist ending, it trips up with some of its characters. Jeff Bridges plays the professor of a class in terrorism who begins investigating a suspicious couple (Tim Robbins and Joan Cusack) across the street from him. Unfortunately Bridges, a certified paranoid, makes so many clumsy mistakes you'd think he'd never attended his own class. We can't connect with him. Robbins on the other hand is electrifying for most of the picture. Hope Davis is also on board, excellent as Bridges' girlfriend and the Voice of Reason.
