Angel Flake
By Jeffrey M. Anderson John Travolta plays an angel with long hair and a beer gut who contacts a team of tabloid writers in order to repair their hearts. William Hurt and Andie MacDowell play the writers, who are at odds with one another and will eventually fall in love. Then there is Hurt's assistant (Robert Pastorelli) who is married and serves as comic relief. And there's a cute dog. Travolta is the only thing that saves this formulaic movie. We know what's going to happen the rest of the time, so the only fun of watching the movie is watching him. Because we don't know what he's going to do, the rules are different for him. And he's obviously having a wonderful time. Nora Ephron directed, from a screenplay written by herself and a bunch of other people.
