Tooth and Nail
By Jeffrey M. Anderson
Jack Crow (James Woods) leads a pack of vampire hunters in this very good, very basic, stripped-down film fueled by a bluesy guitar score; Woods looks like he's having a great deal of fun. Daniel Baldwin stars as Jack's sidekick, and Sheryl Lee is a helpful prostitute. Vampires owes a good deal to the Westerns that director John Carpenter admires, and it has a great look and feel about it. Sony released the film in a "Superbit" DVD edition, which dumps all the usual extras and uses the disc space to increase picture and sound quality.
