Buchanan Rides Alone (1958)
Law & Border
By Jeffrey M. Anderson Buy Buchanan Rides Alone on DVD
Randolph Scott plays the title role in Budd Boetticher's Buchana Rides Alone, as a man who rides into a Mexican border town with a huge smile on his face, ready to head back to Texas to start his own ranch. But first he wants a steak, a whisky and a bed. Unfortunately, he steps into the middle of a fracas and winds up in trouble again. This is a lighter effort than usual, with more of a male bonding angle. It's also the most needlessly complicated of the series. Charles Lang wrote the screenplay, based on a novel by Jonas Ward, thought Burt Kennedy reportedly helped (without credit). See also The Films of Budd Boetticher.
