The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947)
See Worthy
By Jeffrey M. Anderson
Joseph L. Mankiewicz directed this unusual and highly potent romance between a widow (Gene Tierney) and the ghost of an old sea captain (Rex Harrison), whose former house she has moved into. George Sanders co-stars as a soggy fop who completes the strange love triangle, and Natalie Wood plays Tierney's childhood self. This ludicrous scenario somehow comes to life through Mankiewicz's no-nonsense direction and one of composer Bernard Herrmann's most beautiful original scores. The DVD contains two commentary tracks, a Rex Harrison biography, trailers and stills.
