The Plague's the Thing
By Jeffrey M. Anderson Roger Corman's sixth Poe adaptation and by far his best, thanks to the beautiful, sinister color cinematography by future director Nicolas Roeg (Don't Look Now). Vincent Price plays a Satanist who keeps and controls reluctant "guests" at his castle while the Black Plague rages outside. The DVD comes in a beautiful widescreen transfer, and a whole second feature, Corman's The Premature Burial (1962), starring Ray Milland.
