Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992)
Damn Good
By Jeffrey M. Anderson Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (1992) waslambasted by critics and lumped in with the worst of the year. Viewersexpected something like Lynch's popular TV show of the same name, butinstead he gave them a horrific portrait of a girl, Laura Palmer (SherylLee) who stepped over to the wrong side of the tracks one time too oftenand was unable to return. The film contains tons of nightmare imagerythat looks filtered through fluorescent lights and often goesunanswered. (Chris Isaak plays an FBI agent who simply disappears afterretrieving a ring on the ground.) It's a seriously underrated work andone of Lynch's purest dives into his own twisted soul. The disc containsan excellent documentary interviewing various "Twin Peaks" stars aboutthe film and the series.
