Cronenberg on Cronenberg, by Chris Rodley

This series, published by Faber and Faber is invaluable. It collects various
interviews with several top directors, describing their films in their own
words. The Cronenberg book is arguably the most valuable because Cronenberg
is vastly underappreciated and because his work is not represented elsewhere
in print. The book has been in the works for several years, and includes
interviews done during the time he was in pre-production on what was to
become Total Recall (eventually directed by Paul Verhoeven).
The more recent edition contains interviews about Crash. Cronenberg
is more than a horror director. He is a brilliant man, and his theories
and philosophies about human beings alone are extraordinary.
