Hypnotize Me
By Jeffrey M. Anderson Woody Allen cooks up an easy-going little swindle comedy, not too far off from his last film Small Time Crooks. Allen plays an insurance investigator circa 1940 who hates the new efficiency expert (Helen Hunt) hired to streamline his office. At a nightclub, they both get hypnotized into loving each other and robbing diamonds whenever a key word is spoken. The bulk of the laughs come from the creative insults the pair hurl at each other. Hunt doesn't seem right in period dress, but Dan Akyroyd, Wallace Shawn, Charlize Theron, and Elizabeth Berkeley all shine.
