Anderson The Bangles were a terrific, adorable pop band with a great sound and more than a little luck; half of their hits were covers ("Manic Monday," "September Gurls," "Hazy Shade of Winter," etc.), but they still managed to amass a very nice catalog of songs. In this concert, recorded at the House of Blues in 2000, their sound is a little thin and a little tentative. Susanna Hoffs, the beautiful and charismatic centerpiece for the band, has a unique voice, but not a particularly strong one. Nevertheless, the audio on this DVD is outstanding and the 18 songs included represent all the band's best material. Better still, the DVD comes with two superior acoustic performances ("Manic Monday" and "Ride the Ride"); too bad that entire session couldn't have been included. The DVD also comes with interviews, a band commentary track and photos.
