Beetle Mania
By Jeffrey M. Anderson
William Castle wrote the screenplay and produced this, his very last film. After an earthquake, giant cockroaches emerge from the earth's gaping maw and take over, blowing up cars, burning people and spelling things out with their bodies. A feverish entomologist tries to save the world. It might have been fun, but the sluggish direction by Jeannot Szwarc (surely one of the worst directors of all time, the mastermind behind the flops Supergirl and Santa Claus: The Movie), keeps the events a little too serious, making the hollow dialogue sound even phonier.
Paramount's new DVD has no extras.
