Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated - Season One, Vol. 1 (2010)
Zoinks!
By Jeffrey M. Anderson My son, nearly 5, is a die-hard Scooby Doo fan; he did not like this new series, but it's interesting for older, longtime fans. It features the original gang, back with their original 1960s look, but with a new kind of jagged, angular animation. Velma is a little more girly here, and she and Shaggy are romantically involved, though they keep it secret from Scooby. The mood is darker, scarier and more violent. The shows make post-modern references to some of the gang's earliest adventures, and introduce the parents of each gang member. Casey Kasem is still on hand in some supporting roles, but he no longer provides the voice of Shaggy; Matthew Lillard -- who did such terrific job in the 2002 live-action movie -- now takes over that honor. The new DVD from Warner Home Video features four episodes, originally aired in 2010.
