Cop Out
By Jeffrey M. Anderson First, consider that Italian directors Sergio Leone and Sergio Corbucci were both doing astounding work in the late sixties with their landmark Spaghetti Westerns. Then consider that, years later, while Leone was working on his masterpiece Once Upon a Time in America, Corbucci was making this truly embarrassing garbage. I honestly couldn't finish watching this; the hopped-up acting, the ridiculously juvenile humor and the incessant, numbing electronic musical score made me depressed. Terence Hill, apparently a comedian in some parts of the world (known for his Trinity movies), plays a rookie cop who obtains superpowers. Ernest Borgnine collected a paycheck for this as well. I imagine very young children might not be offended, but viewers who fondly remember seeing it on cable will probably not want to ruin their memories with the cruel reality. DVD Details: Somerville House released this on a 2006 DVD along with another Terence Hill "classic," Crime Busters (1976). The Super Fuzz DVD comes with various audio tracks (Spanish, English and French) but no subtitles. It also includes trailers and biographies.
