The Blood Beast Terror (1968)
Buggy Trouble
By Jeffrey M. Anderson Peter Cushing stars as Detective Inspector Quennell, who investigates a series of bizarre murders in the English countryside. The case leads him to entomologist Dr. Carl Mallinger (Robert Flemyng) and his pretty daughter Clare (Wanda Ventham). A giant bug creature turns out to be responsible. Quennell may have noticed something was amiss by the weird, unexplained scars all over the doctor's butler's face. Director Vernon Sewell gives the movie a touch of class, which probably makes it duller than it could have been, though Cushing seems to be in his element, getting through the ridiculous situations with a kind of bemused dignity. Truth be told, I've forgotten most of it already. It was also released as The Vampire Beast Craves Blood. Kino Lorber has released it on DVD and Blu-ray as part of their Redemption label. It includes a trailer and production stills.
